A DAVE BROCKIE EULOGY FROM PORK BROTHER JAMES VON SINN.
My gwar eulogy.. i have very few idols from this age.. but ODERUS was one of em. Gwar was a big influence on my whole being since the day i discovered them reading THRASHER in detention in 1991. It wasnt the shock, camp, or Gore that drew me towards the band either it was the genius of the underlying political sub context that they pushed, underneath it all was a true subversive revolutionary, i held them in the same regard as CRASS, and DEAD KENNEDY’S at the time. This hidden agenda has paved the way for my approach at art and music ever since. It was only last year on tour, that i had one of the greatest conversations of my entire life, that fulfilled all my dreams and beliefs, it was down a back piss stained alley in new orleans way way past the witching hour, rocket fuel in our veins, sex pistols and stooges blaring on the jukebox, i decided to talk to dave about these concepts, and never in my life had i had such a creative inspiring brainstorm of visions of true revolutionary tactics, he was ready to take everything to the next level…with a belief that true rock and roll terrorism against the government is logically the next step and unless we take that jump, what was the point of it all? for a few hours battleplans where spewed, that would get me arrested or on government watch lists if i revealed more. But on that night a hero lived up to all i wanted and sparked a flame inside, that quite possibly we could change the world, he was living proof. that night he said it would prob be up to a new generation to create this social upheaval, so i guess its my duty to serve my general of chaos wishes and show this warrior in valhalla that his messages where well received. Anyway also inspiring my art/drawings early on i felt honored to draw this flyer a few years back..another dream fulfilled
